Dec 31, 1944

Dear Sis─

Here it is, my last letter for this year, and what a year it was. But at that, 1945 isn’t going to be any too good a year as far as I can see, except for the fact that it may be the end of the European War.

It’s pretty damn cold out here, much worse that [sic] Mississippi was while we were there. Strangely enough though, many of the days the sun is out and it helps somewhat. Take me back to the Hawaiian winter anytime, better yet, just get me back to Hawaii, period.

The Christmas dinner we had was the best you could get anyplace, even back in the states. Turkey etc, I kinda [sic] forget what else we had. Of course, the guys on line couldn’t possibly have had anything like it. At present, I am still a hell of a ways from the front, that’s why I got a meal.

I don’t know what you’re all doing now but I certainly hope you have a pleasant new years [sic]. Over here we’ll have a much harder time having it nice so you can take my share of it.

Well, so long

Love
Stan

P.S.
I’m all right, how are you?
