Dear Kay─

Well, how’s the home front? I’ll bet everything is dandy now. Me I’m all right. The schedule of life is pretty different; I’ve rain in a hole and shivered in my pants ( it wasn’t the cold) and we go through a lot of inconvenience, but still I’m all right. And I’ve probably told you the same thing in other letters but hell, what else is there to write about? I’m not a god, if I were I’d make everything appear different, make them appear to the good. The beef that’s lying around here, I’d take away the aroma that smells like —— and make it smell like a juicy steak, if steaks smell. And here is this table flat land, machine gun bullets travel hundreds of yards so you must remember your manners, be polite, and never hesitate to get out of their way but quick, and let them sail along with no stopovers.

They are ?????, yes, but Jerry’s [sic] got them, and when we do go after them he’ll be looking down our throats with observation enough that if you open your mouth, he’ll take you if you have tonsils. Well, space won’t permit so─
