Roy Sato

A Company

Roy Sato was born in 1925 in Stockton, California. He and his family later moved to Fresno. During World War II, the Sato family was incarcerated in Jerome, Arkansas. Roy eventually relocated to Chicago from the camp.

Upon his eighteenth birthday, he was drafted after the 4-C enemy alien classification was dropped for the Nisei. After basic training at Camp Blanding in Florida, he was sent overseas to Europe and assigned to the 100th Battalion, Company A. He participated in the Gothic Line Campaign in Italy.

After the war, he married Kiyo and retired after being employed as a refrigeration and air conditioning contractor.
