Dog Company, 100th Infantry Battalion
Born in Kapaa, Kauai, Hiromi Urabe was drafted into the U.S.
Army in 1940 and served as an original member of the 100th Infantry Battalion.
After the war, he retired from the Federal Aviation Administration. Urabe passed away on January 7, 2002 at the age of 81 years. He was survived by his wife Thelma and four children, Raymond, Daniel, Janice and Linda.
His family saved four letters he wrote to his parents. living in Honolulu at the time, from Camp McCoy, Wisconsin and Camp Shelby, Mississippi where the 100th underwent additional training.
